Update

So I've been in hospital since Wednesday afternoon.  I went to the doctor's that morning and like so many other times he didn't like my PIH symptoms.  He thought it best to get to the hospital to get some steroids on board for the girls and to do a 24 hour urine collection and to be generally monitored.  It's not a fun vacation  like I thought it would be.  You really are trapped in a bed, in a small room with only privileges to get up and pee.  Other than that you are stuck in bed with monitors on and people coming and going taking various medications, vitals, fluids...

Well I thought that I may deliver the girls today, but instead today I think that he is going to send me home, empty handed.  I've been trying to find a way that will convince him to deliver me.  I haven't succeeded.  In fact this morning my BP was actually too low.  I'm telling you I'm all over the board.  I am happy that the girls got the medication needed to develop their lungs, but I wish that he The contractions all day, every day aren't fun, I HATE BED REST, and I'm just overall uncomfortable.  My sisters blog had a post this week about not being a negative and wining.  Well folks, that was her blog, not mine.  If you don't like what you are reading, stop reading.  I'm just saying... maybe I shouldn't be writing a post when I'm in the middle of it.  It always seems to be worse when you are in the middle of something.  A little time on my side and it won't seem so bad.  After all I get to go home today to my mom who has no doubt been cooking, cleaning, looking after my child and husband and will be of utmost help.  Thanks mom, your the best!

Bed rest?!

So who ever thought that bed rest was a good idea? I mean really, unless you are in the hospital being watched like a hawk, who has enough self control to do this 100%. Okay, I know a few women who did, but I don't seem to be one of them. It's the middle of the night and I am sitting at the computer, not sleeping, while on bed rest. Hat's off the the ladies who actually accomplish this task. My cousin, Angie, for one who spent 10 weeks+ in hospital with her twin boys. I'm just not one of them. For the most part I have stayed either on the couch or in bed, but I am loosing my mind and it's only been 6 days! Come on people, there is no way I am going to make it much longer. Good thing this is all coming to a close. I think the reason for no sleep tonight was on and off contractions. I was trying to ignore them so I could sleep, but they have won. Not to worry folks, I go to the doctor at 10am for my bi-weekly appointment. I'm sure he will make sure everything is fine, and I hope that he is going to find that we are well on our way to having these girls! Mom is on her way here tonight, Myles has been farmed out to my dear friends this week and I am READY TO GET ON WITH IT! I know the girls could use some more baking time, but the oven isn't having it. I'm done. I can't say it any other way, I'm just DONE!

News Flash

So I guess I need to update everyone on the last few days.  We have been busy here at the Dodd home.
Wednesday was a regular Doctor's appointment for me.  Dr. Li didn't like the amount of weight I had gained in one months time, or the fact that my feet were starting to swell like melons.  He originally had wanted me to get to 36, or even 37 weeks before delivering.  But after this appointment he wasn't sure I was even going to get through the end of April.  That is now the goal.  He wanted me to have my BP checked in two days time and give him a call with the numbers.  Well Myles and I went to Wal-Mart to have a BP check.  I called in the numbers and he didn't like them.  He wanted to see us in the office that afternoon to check them for himself.  So off to Pasadena we went.  When we got there he did a check for himself and he still didn't like the numbers.  So we spent most of the evening at the hospital last night getting monitored.  I don't think the girls like it because they wouldn't stay on for more than a few min.  Lydia wasn't on for more than 6 min. the entire time.  What a pill.  He was satisfied with the BP once I was lying on my left side and not moving around at all.  Enough anyway that he let me go home on strict bed rest.  I will go see him again on Monday morning and we will see what he has to say.  My gestational diabetes is borderline, my protein in the urine is growing worse, the BP problems, a possible UTI, and the swelling all add up to "D day".  It seems that I avoided it for this weekend, but that doesn't mean it will be much longer.  I am 32 weeks and the girls are guessed to be around 4 lbs. each.   I will keep everyone posted on the events of the coming days.

Second:  My baby shower was on Thursday night and it was a great success.  We had a great turnout and I so enjoyed seeing everyone there.  We got some really cute clothes and some diapers and lot's of little shoes!  Thanks to everyone who came, and especially Angela and Jennifer for pulling it all together!  We loved every min. of it.

Is that a foot?!

So I guess the last picture of my feet didn't quite show how swollen they are getting. I think you can tell from this one that my feet are no longer my feet, rather tree trunks that end into bear paws! I almost can't even bend my toes they are so fat. Man, who knew they could get this way. This photo was taken at 9am, and by tonight they will look worse. I guess it's time to get these little girlie's here. My feet may explode otherwise!

What a great morning!

This morning Myles wanted to wear his rain boots while watching cartoons. And yes, he is standing right in front of the T.V. . Something we need to work on. He plants himself right there so he can dance, play and just view the show. I think it's so cute that kids start to have input as to what they want to wear. This was Myles first time expressing he cared one way or the other. What a great combo, prison stripes and rain boots!

A little of this and that

So I'm 30 weeks now and have 6 weeks to go. I am counting down the days till delivery. I've been really lucky up to this point in my pregnancy. I've had relatively few problems, especially for a twin pregnancy. But everything must come to an end I guess. I'm starting to show signs of PIH again. I also failed my glucose test and had to take the three hour test last week. My hands and feet are swollen even before I get up in the morning. By the end of the night they look really bad. I need to stop wearing my wedding ring now because I'm afraid I won't be able to get it off like last time. Too late for the toe ring. I forgot about it and now it's stuck. My B.P. is rising slowly and I am having contractions that took us to the hospital for monitoring. Nothing that the doctor wants to do about it now. The medication side effects are worse than the contractions at this point. Don't worry, I am seen every two weeks and he will evaluate me again next week. I'm also really feeling out of room on the inside. Six more weeks baby! I'm counting the days.

On another note: This post should be labeled "Doggie Attempt Suicide."
Last night Yoda was running around the driveway while Bjorn and I were gathering some camping equipment for a friend. Bjorn asked if I had the dog in the garage, but I didn't. He proceeded to call "Yoda", and much to his surprise Yoda almost came down right on top of his head. You see the apartments behind our house are two levels. The dog went up the stairs and was wondering around the second floor. When Bjorn called him, he jumped, right onto a metal rain shield. Now this isn't a very sturdy rain shield by any stretch of the imagination. So there we are not being able to get him from below, Bjorn runs up the stairs while I am holding the flashlight trying to convince the dog to "STAY". I'm thinking that the metal is going to come crashing down right on top of me at any second. You can hear Yoda's claws scratching on the metal as he slides ever closer to the edge of the metal overhang. What a stupid dog! Bjorn grabs him from above, disaster averted. Can you just see it, a dog with 4 broken legs all on a Sunday night vet bill. Just what I need right now. Lucky for me all is well and we didn't need any medical attention, except maybe some doggie Prozac. I'm not kidding, this dog costs us more than the kids do.

These are pictures of the scene of the accident. I guess he ducked under the white railing and onto the metal. Look at the metal it's not even level. What a stupid dog!

Easter Weekend

What a difference a year makes. Last year Myles and I went to the Monrovia Day Easter Egg hunt. I was basically putting all the eggs in the basket. Well this year he got it! He walked over to pick up eggs and put them into his basket. Saturday morning they had the Easter egg hunt in one of the local parks. We had an egg hunt and had got a free book from the book mobile and then went to play at the park. I think Myles liked the park just as much as gathering all the eggs.

Then on Sunday we had an egg hunt in the living room for him before we got ready for church. It was really cute. He wanted to open all the eggs and consume their contents before moving on to the next egg. Needless to say he had a breakfast of cookies and chocolate that day.

After church we were invited to a friends house for a wonderful Easter dinner. All I had to bring was the funeral potatoes. What an easy way out. Everything there was wonderful. We had another egg hunt for the kids and Myles being a pro at egg hunts by now went to work filling his basket with all the eggs in sight. These eggs were filled not with candy but toys so the kids had fun playing with bubbles, and balloon punching bags, and frogs and all kinds of other toys. What a wonderful Easter!
