photo problems

So I have a ton of posts just waiting to go, but I am having such a struggle since my new camera is sooooo much better than the last. The problem is that blogger takes sooooo long to upload photos that sometimes it can't even do it. Sometimes it takes overnight, and sometimes(always) it will take an hour to tell me that it can't publish my video clip. I need help. I need to know how to compress or lower my pixel numbers so I can get back to the blogging world and get all these things down for my kids. Anyone?!, Anyone?!

P.S. I don't use picassa, and I have a mac.
