A little of this and that

So I'm 30 weeks now and have 6 weeks to go. I am counting down the days till delivery. I've been really lucky up to this point in my pregnancy. I've had relatively few problems, especially for a twin pregnancy. But everything must come to an end I guess. I'm starting to show signs of PIH again. I also failed my glucose test and had to take the three hour test last week. My hands and feet are swollen even before I get up in the morning. By the end of the night they look really bad. I need to stop wearing my wedding ring now because I'm afraid I won't be able to get it off like last time. Too late for the toe ring. I forgot about it and now it's stuck. My B.P. is rising slowly and I am having contractions that took us to the hospital for monitoring. Nothing that the doctor wants to do about it now. The medication side effects are worse than the contractions at this point. Don't worry, I am seen every two weeks and he will evaluate me again next week. I'm also really feeling out of room on the inside. Six more weeks baby! I'm counting the days.

On another note: This post should be labeled "Doggie Attempt Suicide."
Last night Yoda was running around the driveway while Bjorn and I were gathering some camping equipment for a friend. Bjorn asked if I had the dog in the garage, but I didn't. He proceeded to call "Yoda", and much to his surprise Yoda almost came down right on top of his head. You see the apartments behind our house are two levels. The dog went up the stairs and was wondering around the second floor. When Bjorn called him, he jumped, right onto a metal rain shield. Now this isn't a very sturdy rain shield by any stretch of the imagination. So there we are not being able to get him from below, Bjorn runs up the stairs while I am holding the flashlight trying to convince the dog to "STAY". I'm thinking that the metal is going to come crashing down right on top of me at any second. You can hear Yoda's claws scratching on the metal as he slides ever closer to the edge of the metal overhang. What a stupid dog! Bjorn grabs him from above, disaster averted. Can you just see it, a dog with 4 broken legs all on a Sunday night vet bill. Just what I need right now. Lucky for me all is well and we didn't need any medical attention, except maybe some doggie Prozac. I'm not kidding, this dog costs us more than the kids do.

These are pictures of the scene of the accident. I guess he ducked under the white railing and onto the metal. Look at the metal it's not even level. What a stupid dog!

Easter Weekend

What a difference a year makes. Last year Myles and I went to the Monrovia Day Easter Egg hunt. I was basically putting all the eggs in the basket. Well this year he got it! He walked over to pick up eggs and put them into his basket. Saturday morning they had the Easter egg hunt in one of the local parks. We had an egg hunt and had got a free book from the book mobile and then went to play at the park. I think Myles liked the park just as much as gathering all the eggs.

Then on Sunday we had an egg hunt in the living room for him before we got ready for church. It was really cute. He wanted to open all the eggs and consume their contents before moving on to the next egg. Needless to say he had a breakfast of cookies and chocolate that day.

After church we were invited to a friends house for a wonderful Easter dinner. All I had to bring was the funeral potatoes. What an easy way out. Everything there was wonderful. We had another egg hunt for the kids and Myles being a pro at egg hunts by now went to work filling his basket with all the eggs in sight. These eggs were filled not with candy but toys so the kids had fun playing with bubbles, and balloon punching bags, and frogs and all kinds of other toys. What a wonderful Easter!

Just for the fun of it

Last week my girlfriend Angela took time out of her very busy (mother of 3 active little boys, wife to Todd) life to shoot a few pictures of me and Myles. It was fun and some of them turned out well. Not that they wouldn't turn out because of the photographer, but because of the subject matter. It was, and is, if for nothing else for my own posterity. I wanted to have a record of what I looked like while pregnant with the girls. Have a look, don't be too critical, I am 28 weeks along after all... Bjorn has named the girls as you can see in the last picture!

A little of this and that

OK so how much would I give to get to the point of having the babies in my arms RIGHT NOW! It's only 5:48AM, but I've been up most of the night and it's starting to really get to me. I had insomnia when I was pregnant with Myles, but this is getting a little ridiculous. I haven't had a good night's rest in I can't tell you how long. At least with Myles there wasn't anything going on, I just couldn't sleep. With these girls it's I feel like I can't breath when I lay down. So you say, sit up. Well then my legs fall asleep. It's really just a cruel cycle that I keep spinning. I really don't know what to do.

So for now I will finish making St. Pat's Day treats for our friends and hope that that passes some time. Only problem is that when I'm really beyond tiered and would get come sleep Myles will be up and ready for the day to begin. I now covet his naps far more than he does. I just wish they would be a little bit longer. What I should really be doing is the girls crib sets. I've done the bumpers, but not the quilts, and yes, now I have to make two so I really need to get going on that. I just need to sit down and make myself do it. It's hard however when I get interruptions. I need the creative juices to just keep flowing or I loose interest. This is the first sewing project I have done since making Yuki's quilt 10 days before I delivered Myles. Can you say sewers block!

BTW-My good little eater has returned after being sick for two weeks. He still sounds terrible at night but I make him sleep with the humidifier on and that helps. We are over the runny nose and most of the unpleasant disposition. On Sunday he ate an entire chicken breast for lunch and a piece of fish, veggies, and fruit for dinner. Yea- now if I can only convince him that it's O.K. if mommy still feeds him life would be great. He now has to have his own utensils and he wants to do it himself.

Thanks for the Pork Loin recipe Leslie- it was a hit with both Myles and Bjorn. Can't remember the last time I got a comment on a great dinner. Guess that means I need all new ideas. Cooking is hard for me. I'm not the really adventurous type. And to be honest food just isn't that appealing right now. I can't eat a lot in a setting so why go to all the effort of making an elaborate meal when you don't even enjoy it.

And lastly, what are your thoughts on baby showers for second/third children? Well here is the deal. My girlfriends here in Monrovia are giving me one, and I am very grateful for it because I am going to need a ton of things. Here is my question. Do I register for the girls? I really need LOTS of diapers, and I'm picky about the ones that I like. I love Pampers Swaddlers. I wish they made them for the big kids too. The biggest size is a 2-3 split and that didn't get Myles very far. He's been in a 5 for about a year now. Anyway without registering how do you tactfully say the only kind of diapers I would like are swaddlers? And while I'm on the subject of diapers- anyone with a good suggestion for night time diapers. Myles often leaks out. Now I know he is a good sleeper 12-14 hour nights, but I think that he would sleep even longer if he wasn't all wet! I've tried bigger size for night. No luck, I tried good nights, no luck. I wanted to try diaper doubler's, they don't make them anymore. Unless they are adult size. Any ideas?!

75 more to go

Let's hear it people, only 75 more days to go. I can't wait. I know, I know, when the girls get here I will be wishing that they were right back where they started, but seriously, it's getting old and they must come out soon. I am feeling out of space and out of patience. I measured my belly the other day(ok so it was like two weeks ago, but who's counting). I am 44 1/2 inches around. That has to say DELIVERY right! I mean how big can you get! Seriously people it's time, just 75 more short days to go.

Fred Flintstone?!

Sorry, the video wouldn't upload, I'll try later.

My friend (thanks Angela), was getting rid of this little car and I knew that I wanted one for Myles in a few months so we took it.  I have seen how much fun my nephews have all had in the very same cars at my moms house.  Myles doesn't have the hang of how to move his feet to make the thing go yet, but it was the first day so I will cut him some slack.  We spent an hour and a half outside the other day going between the car and the tree swing.  It's going to be fun when we can all be outside together.  My landlord gave us a green caterpillar tree swing that is for two.  So as soon as the girls are big enough we can all swing together.  It's really fun for Myles.  He loves being outside and since the weather is good this week it was a perfect time.  We finally did have some winter weather the last couple of weeks, but I think that most of it is over and we are back to springtime beauty.  Gotta love So. Cal.

Tour of California

So I really needed to get that picture of my belly off the front page news!  We had a fun weekend planned for Saturday.  The Tour of California was making the second to last stop, stage 7, in Pasadena this year.  We road the train to Pasadena, took a free shuttle to the Rose Bowl and had a great time eating and watching as the bike racers all came rushing by at about 30 miles an our.  We had a great view and it was very exciting to see all the familiar faces of the men we watch in the Tour de France each year.

Myles was even really interested. When the racers would come by our spot everyone would clap, hoot, and ring their cow bells.  Myles would smile and clap his hands wildly.  It was very cute.  We were lucky to get a spot on the loop.  The end of stage 7 was 5 laps around the Rose Bowl. We were lucky enough to get a spot only 150 M away from the finish line.

Poor Myles missed his nap because of the timing of the race, but he made it through most of the race, only falling asleep in the last lap.
