Myles goes to Disneyland

(as usual, Bjorn has his eyes closed!)

Ryan and Leslie and their boys were in town for the week so we wanted to spend some time with them. Disneyland is a place that is "magical" for little kids. It's right in our backyard however, we have never been. Bjorn has lived here in So. Cal. for about 10 years and has yet to go to Disneyland. I thought it was high time that we all made the trek since there would be extra hands on deck to help out with the kids. Myles was really great! He had a short nap in the stroller and made it all the way to the end of the night for the fireworks show. He enjoyed many rides, and just generally being entertained by his 4 cuzzies. It was a great day, all in all, and everyone had fun. I'm glad that Myles got there this year. I don't know that we will be going anyplace like that next year!

Myles on the King Aurthur Carousel and Dumbo rides and a shot of the petting zoo. He even used his "soft touches" that we have been working on at home. Good thing too because there was a really grumpy goat who actually charged him and head butted Myles right in the belly. I guess he wasn't up for being bothered by any little kids!

One month old

Lydia on left, Audrey on right

Audrey and Lydia are one month old today. I can't believe how fast the time has gone. They went to the doctor for their first check up and have done really well. Audrey weighed in at 6 lbs. 4 oz. while Lydia(our little one) weighed 6 lbs. 3 oz.. She has really done well and has caught up to her big sister. They have grown out of their first preemie clothes from Wal-mart, while other brands of preemie size are STILL too big.
They are still in preemie diapers, something I hope they grow out of soon, as they are really expensive and hard to find. The girls are both eating every 4 hours during the day and about 41/2-5 hours at night. I can't wait till 8 weeks when I can get them sleeping through the night! We are all surviving having little sleep. The cute little faces make it all worth while!

Two peas in a pod

Thursday the 21st we were able to bring Lydia home from the hospital. It is so nice to have everyone home. Running back to the hospital twice a day for feedings was getting hard since the other two kids were not allowed in the NICU. Plus I can now have the girls on the same feeding schedule. It's been really nice.

Mom came on Friday night and has been a life saver. She cooks meals, feeds babies, takes good care of Myles and even let's me catch a nap if I want one.

Bjorn went back to work today, he has a trail starting Wednesday and then June will be spent in two or three other trials. Funny how things never work out how you want them. I had hoped we would be able to have him home for a few weeks, but as it turned out that couldn't happen with trials stacking up. So lucky for me that mom is here to help out during the day.

Myles is doing okay. I think for the most part he is just ignoring the girls. He has stopped crying when they cry. He is having some outbursts of bad behavior, but all in all I think he is doing really well consider
ing that he didn't really know what was going to be coming home with us. The first picture is Lydia and the second is Audrey.

Special Delivery!

Myles announces the arrival of his two baby sisters, Audrey and Lydia.  They made an entrance into the world on Thursday the 14th.  I had a doctor's appointment that morning and when I got there he didn't like my BP, 150/100.  Nothing unusual since we have been battling this for weeks now.  He wanted me to go across to the hospital but I didn't want to go because I had done this so many times before and they always send me home after several hours.  I told Dr. Li that they just laugh now when they see me coming.  He assured me that he would either deliver the girls today or that I would be admitted until their arrival.  I was caught of guard by this so I asked if I could go home and get a few things in order.  He said NO! Not with blood pressure like that.  So I walked across the street to the hospital where I was indeed to have a c-section that afternoon.

After calling Bjorn and getting all the loose ends tied up we were in the operating room for no more than 5 min. and the girls were out!  Audrey(in the first picture) was born at 3:33, and was crying as soon as she came out, butt first.  She weighed in at 5lbs. 1 oz. and 17 inches long.  Her little sister, Lydia, came just one min. later at 3:34, head first and weighed in at 4lbs. 9 oz. and 18 1/2 inches long.  She too was crying.

Both girls went to the NICU, but were doing really well.  Audrey has since been sent out to the well baby nursery, while Lydia( who looks just like Bjorn) is still working on a few eating and oxygen issues.  We hope that she will be out of the NICU by Thursday or Friday of the coming week.  I will be discharged Monday and will be taking Audrey home barring any complications.  We are very blessed to have had such beautiful, healthy baby girls!

More quality time in labor and delivery

Well another week has passed and another Doctor's appointment has come and gone. This time, as usual, he didn't like my BP(140/90). So across the street to the hospital I went to be monitored AGAIN. I had a full proof guarantee this time however. If my BP stayed high, or my protein in the urine was at a 3+ he would deliver the girls. Well as usual my BP went right down and my urine was only a 2+. So on both cases only border line hypertensive. Not a good enough reason to have a c-section yesterday.

All factors point to some really healthy girls however. They look beautiful on the monitors, and they even stayed on the entire time yesterday. Dr. Li approximated the weights to be around 5 lbs. each now. That's a good size baby. No wonder I feel so bad. And the ultimate kicker, they are girls who always seem to do better respiratory wise after an early delivery. I say let's get on with it and see what these two little girls look like. Oh- I almost forgot, they have turned. No longer are they both transverse, they are both breach and facing each other. So no wonder I am getting so many kicks to the bladder. I will still require a c-section for breach babies, but at least Audry's head might not be so smooshie looking. I am a little distressed by the fact that I have been calling them by name for quite some time now and since they have changed positions I don't know who is who. Disturbing!

Anyway my Doctor's appointment that should have only taken 1/2 hour turned out to take all day. I left the house at about 10am, and didn't get home till close to 4pm. I go back to see the doctor on Monday. He told the nurse to discharge me and tell me to go home and not be such a good patient. So I've been up more today doing things to get ready for the girls. I hope to go to a movie tonight. It's just sitting for 2 hours right! It may be the last movie I get to see for a LONG, LONG time.

Mom leaves us on Tuesday night and I will miss all the help she has been. She has cooked us a great meal each night. Cleaned my whole house, windows and curtains and all. And she loves my baby Myles who is just starting to be comfortable with her. I guess I'm lucky that she will be coming back in a few weeks to help out more. Maybe Myles will be better acquainted with her and will warm up faster.

So for now that's it folks. Not a single baby in sight, but we will keep you posted. Watch out for coming news!

Update

So I've been in hospital since Wednesday afternoon.  I went to the doctor's that morning and like so many other times he didn't like my PIH symptoms.  He thought it best to get to the hospital to get some steroids on board for the girls and to do a 24 hour urine collection and to be generally monitored.  It's not a fun vacation  like I thought it would be.  You really are trapped in a bed, in a small room with only privileges to get up and pee.  Other than that you are stuck in bed with monitors on and people coming and going taking various medications, vitals, fluids...

Well I thought that I may deliver the girls today, but instead today I think that he is going to send me home, empty handed.  I've been trying to find a way that will convince him to deliver me.  I haven't succeeded.  In fact this morning my BP was actually too low.  I'm telling you I'm all over the board.  I am happy that the girls got the medication needed to develop their lungs, but I wish that he The contractions all day, every day aren't fun, I HATE BED REST, and I'm just overall uncomfortable.  My sisters blog had a post this week about not being a negative and wining.  Well folks, that was her blog, not mine.  If you don't like what you are reading, stop reading.  I'm just saying... maybe I shouldn't be writing a post when I'm in the middle of it.  It always seems to be worse when you are in the middle of something.  A little time on my side and it won't seem so bad.  After all I get to go home today to my mom who has no doubt been cooking, cleaning, looking after my child and husband and will be of utmost help.  Thanks mom, your the best!

Bed rest?!

So who ever thought that bed rest was a good idea? I mean really, unless you are in the hospital being watched like a hawk, who has enough self control to do this 100%. Okay, I know a few women who did, but I don't seem to be one of them. It's the middle of the night and I am sitting at the computer, not sleeping, while on bed rest. Hat's off the the ladies who actually accomplish this task. My cousin, Angie, for one who spent 10 weeks+ in hospital with her twin boys. I'm just not one of them. For the most part I have stayed either on the couch or in bed, but I am loosing my mind and it's only been 6 days! Come on people, there is no way I am going to make it much longer. Good thing this is all coming to a close. I think the reason for no sleep tonight was on and off contractions. I was trying to ignore them so I could sleep, but they have won. Not to worry folks, I go to the doctor at 10am for my bi-weekly appointment. I'm sure he will make sure everything is fine, and I hope that he is going to find that we are well on our way to having these girls! Mom is on her way here tonight, Myles has been farmed out to my dear friends this week and I am READY TO GET ON WITH IT! I know the girls could use some more baking time, but the oven isn't having it. I'm done. I can't say it any other way, I'm just DONE!
