Gravy Train

Well the girls are 4 months old and I just had to buy the first package of diapers for them( other than the preemie size). Can you say this is the end of the "gravy train". I think we did really good considering the amount of diapers we go through. We had so many generous people give us diapers as a shower gift. I imagine that it has saved us hundreds already. I don't really like to think about how much diapers cost over the life of the child. It's too depressing to do the math. I also still have 4 packages of size 2-3's which are still too big but we will use them when they grow a little more. And speaking of growing...

I don't know where the time has gone, but Audrey and Lydia just had their 4 month check ups. They are both growing and thriving. Audrey is 24 1/2 inches long and 14lbs. 2 oz. Lydia is 25 inches long and 13 lbs. 14 oz. That puts them both in the 50% for weight and Audrey in the 50% for height, but Lydia in the 75% for height. She grew 3 1/4 inches in two months! They are great babies and we can't imagine, nor remember, how life was without them. Here's a little shot of them playing in the "jungle gym". They love to be near each other and are often found with their sisters body parts in their mouths. I tried to capture this, but was too slow at getting the camera. I was lucky to remember to take a video at all! It's been a long day already since Myles got me out of bed @ 5 am today. I HATE the big boy bed for that reason alone. When he wakes he is on the prowl. Not much I can do about that. It is nice to have the girls in their real bed in a real bedroom however. All three are now sleeping great in the same room.

Update

So I've been in hospital since Wednesday afternoon.  I went to the doctor's that morning and like so many other times he didn't like my PIH symptoms.  He thought it best to get to the hospital to get some steroids on board for the girls and to do a 24 hour urine collection and to be generally monitored.  It's not a fun vacation  like I thought it would be.  You really are trapped in a bed, in a small room with only privileges to get up and pee.  Other than that you are stuck in bed with monitors on and people coming and going taking various medications, vitals, fluids...

Well I thought that I may deliver the girls today, but instead today I think that he is going to send me home, empty handed.  I've been trying to find a way that will convince him to deliver me.  I haven't succeeded.  In fact this morning my BP was actually too low.  I'm telling you I'm all over the board.  I am happy that the girls got the medication needed to develop their lungs, but I wish that he The contractions all day, every day aren't fun, I HATE BED REST, and I'm just overall uncomfortable.  My sisters blog had a post this week about not being a negative and wining.  Well folks, that was her blog, not mine.  If you don't like what you are reading, stop reading.  I'm just saying... maybe I shouldn't be writing a post when I'm in the middle of it.  It always seems to be worse when you are in the middle of something.  A little time on my side and it won't seem so bad.  After all I get to go home today to my mom who has no doubt been cooking, cleaning, looking after my child and husband and will be of utmost help.  Thanks mom, your the best!

Bed rest?!

So who ever thought that bed rest was a good idea? I mean really, unless you are in the hospital being watched like a hawk, who has enough self control to do this 100%. Okay, I know a few women who did, but I don't seem to be one of them. It's the middle of the night and I am sitting at the computer, not sleeping, while on bed rest. Hat's off the the ladies who actually accomplish this task. My cousin, Angie, for one who spent 10 weeks+ in hospital with her twin boys. I'm just not one of them. For the most part I have stayed either on the couch or in bed, but I am loosing my mind and it's only been 6 days! Come on people, there is no way I am going to make it much longer. Good thing this is all coming to a close. I think the reason for no sleep tonight was on and off contractions. I was trying to ignore them so I could sleep, but they have won. Not to worry folks, I go to the doctor at 10am for my bi-weekly appointment. I'm sure he will make sure everything is fine, and I hope that he is going to find that we are well on our way to having these girls! Mom is on her way here tonight, Myles has been farmed out to my dear friends this week and I am READY TO GET ON WITH IT! I know the girls could use some more baking time, but the oven isn't having it. I'm done. I can't say it any other way, I'm just DONE!

News Flash

So I guess I need to update everyone on the last few days.  We have been busy here at the Dodd home.
Wednesday was a regular Doctor's appointment for me.  Dr. Li didn't like the amount of weight I had gained in one months time, or the fact that my feet were starting to swell like melons.  He originally had wanted me to get to 36, or even 37 weeks before delivering.  But after this appointment he wasn't sure I was even going to get through the end of April.  That is now the goal.  He wanted me to have my BP checked in two days time and give him a call with the numbers.  Well Myles and I went to Wal-Mart to have a BP check.  I called in the numbers and he didn't like them.  He wanted to see us in the office that afternoon to check them for himself.  So off to Pasadena we went.  When we got there he did a check for himself and he still didn't like the numbers.  So we spent most of the evening at the hospital last night getting monitored.  I don't think the girls like it because they wouldn't stay on for more than a few min.  Lydia wasn't on for more than 6 min. the entire time.  What a pill.  He was satisfied with the BP once I was lying on my left side and not moving around at all.  Enough anyway that he let me go home on strict bed rest.  I will go see him again on Monday morning and we will see what he has to say.  My gestational diabetes is borderline, my protein in the urine is growing worse, the BP problems, a possible UTI, and the swelling all add up to "D day".  It seems that I avoided it for this weekend, but that doesn't mean it will be much longer.  I am 32 weeks and the girls are guessed to be around 4 lbs. each.   I will keep everyone posted on the events of the coming days.

Second:  My baby shower was on Thursday night and it was a great success.  We had a great turnout and I so enjoyed seeing everyone there.  We got some really cute clothes and some diapers and lot's of little shoes!  Thanks to everyone who came, and especially Angela and Jennifer for pulling it all together!  We loved every min. of it.

20 weeks

So I'm already a few weeks late in posting this.  These maternity pants don't fit anymore.  I can wear them, but they cut off the circulation to my ever expanding belly.  I don't know what I am going to wear at the end of the pregnancy if I am already growing out of maternity clothes.  In case you are wondering that is a 20 weeks, not a 02 weeks.  I had to take the pictures in the mirror.

Drum roll please...

Well the verdict is in. Can you guess what sex the twins are? It's not what I thought, but someone else guessed right on. Yep, we are having two......GIRLS! We are excited and are now accepting all donations (j/k) as it will be more expensive to dress these two little bundles of joy!
