Motherhood = going crazy one day at a time!

Here we come Ashton. The Cabin winter trip was a success. The sleds all worked great. Not one broke down and we all had a great time. The snow was deeper than we had ever seen it. The kids loved it there and they didn't even play with their game boys, or watch too many movies. It was a wonderful escape from the 70's we have been having in LA.

The last day at the cabin is always the most beautiful. We had such a wonderful time there. Thanks mom and dad. While there we picked apart the cabin, made a rough sketch of the cabin we would build for the family. Complete with family suites and a grandma and grandpa suite on the main floor. It would be fun to have, so when someone runs into a lot of money we will have a grand place to visit when ever we want. We went on a snow mobile ride to Cave Falls, sledding with shuttle service to the top of the hill, and rides for the kids through the potato fields. Lots of reading for work was done by Bjorn, but we were happy to have him come at the last min. Leslie got a touch of chest congestion and had to go visit the doctor to get an inhaler. The fireplace wasn't drafting and the smoke inside the cabin was great making her problem even worse. It smelled like we were all camping. Ryan and Dad tried, unsuccessfully, to get the flue cleaned out, but in the end we ended up just not burning anymore and used the heaters for the last day and a half. It was a great trip!

Myles was learning how jump in Leslie's johnny jump up. All the kids would surround him and pull on the rope. I think he was slightly overwhelmed at first, but he liked it as long as there were people around.

The last day Myles enjoyed sledding with Tate and Kate who were outside for hours in the snow. They stayed outside even after all the other kids had come inside. They were sledding down the driveway while waiting for the "daddy's" to come back from their ride. As long as they were outside they were assured the first ride.

While driving to town we saw the dog sled race. It was kinda far away and my camera doesn't have a very powerful zoom, but you get the idea. It was fun to see all the same. The only sad part was right after we saw the sled dogs we saw a dog get hit and killed by a passing truck.

Smashed in the waves!

Well last weeks Taupo trip was good. We went for a swim in the lake and it was crystal clear! I couldn't believe it! Even when it was over our heads we could still see to the bottom. I wonder how far out it would've been clear till?
We met the horses on the way out and fed them. Masaru thought that was great! We went rock climbing as well and it was a bit of a tramp to get there. We made a sling out of a blanket for Yuki and climbed around the rocks and mud to get there. I should've gotten a picture of that. This land is owned by a maori family from back in the day and it's just a beautiful plot of land on the lake front that they allowed us to be a part of for the day. Man I was born into the wrong family!!!
Then yesterday we went to the beach in Tauranga and had a blast. I took a video of Masaru getting smashed in the waves, hence the title, but alas I can't put it on here. I don't know how to download picassa stuff onto this. Anyway I guess we miss out. It's pretty funny cause he's lying down and this little wave comes up then this huge wave comes crashing into him and knocks him over and he runs out and looks like he's all upset, only to run straight back in again and ask for more!! I'm really glad we went. Kat brought a tent, which was a saviour for Yuki. She slept in there and seemed to be alright. It was a fun day for all finishing off with fresh fish and chips on the warf front from a little shop Kat knew about.

Naked Pig Hunting

Sorry about last weekend and not posting. We had a buzy weekend as we shifted into my sisters house. We loved the freedom at Llewellyn's and when he came home Sarah offered us to stay with her for free if I look after her kids when she needs it. So we took her up on her offer and moved in last weekend. We couldn't keep up with the payments mum was asking for at her house so decided to move out. So there's 5 kids under 5 at the Hulme household! So needs to say, the house is somewhat chaotic sometimes. But we're having fun and so far so good. It's been a week today and everyone seems to be happy with the arrangement. So we'll see how it all goes.
While we were staying at Llewellyn's we had to feed the pig he has in the back. Now Llewellyn got a free pig from a mate so he can feed it, let it grow, and have some ham this Christmas. So it's very important that the pig gets fed. So Bevin decided to clean out it's pen and Masaru just had to look, even if it means being naked. I thought it was a great shot!
On Feb 2nd Yuki did her official roll from back to front and front to back. There's no stopping her now. She's rockn and rollin all over the show. So now changing her nappy is a little harder. She chooses to sleep on her tummy 50% of the time now but sometimes gets frustrated being on her tummy still and we try to teach her she can just roll back!! She'll get it soon enough.
Masaru started kindy again and is loving it!! He's done 2 paintings so far, none on his face though Leslie!!
Dru got put on the wait list at Seattle University. So hurray for us. They'll get back to him soon if they want him. They haven't finished going through all the applicants. So they might get through and decide the do want him or we could get a call up latter on when their seats don't get filled. So we'll see. So so far 3 out of 3. 7 more schools to hear from. Looks like 2008 is our year for a lot of reasons.
The weather is beautiful and we're off today to do some climbing and swimming in Taupo at a beautiful spot Delwyn thinks he found. So I'll take some shots and we'll find out.
Love you guys

All for a good time

Seth and Tate had a face painting activity at preschool last week. Needless to say, it was a messy and wonderful time for all. A day and a half later Seth woke up with puffy eyes and a faint rash on his face. I couldn't figure out for the life of me where it came from. Later that day I suddenly had an epiphany...the face paint!! I noticed that the areas most affected was where he had concentrated the paint (i.e. his eyes). Interestingly enough, it didn't affect Tate. Oh well, it didn't seem to bother him and we treated it with a little Benedryl. We'll just have to watch out for that in the future. They look cute though!

It's official

Here I am in my new big boy car set "Cowmooflage".

Myles is huge. He went for his 4 month check up today and he is in the 95th% for weight, and 97th% for height. That translates into 18lbs. 2 oz. and 27 inches long. We are starting to move him into 6-9 month clothes and size two shoes. I'm really starting to miss the "little" baby I HAD I guess all I can say is that my child is WELL FED! Here are a few pictures from this week.

Splish splash I love taking a bath.

Especially when I get out and get all "cozy" in my hooded towel.

Here I am sitting like a big boy in my new hat from Auntie Birgitte.

Here I am having some "Tummy Time". Something I really hate, you know it's hard to hold up these big cheeks!
